Ukraine Fundraising Events

Last week saw Penicuik High School carry out a number of fundraising events to support Ukraine. The Bake Sale on Thursday 17th March was completely student led as they approached staff in school for permission and worked with our Home Economics department to raise a total of £537. A special thanks goes out to these students who are listed below:

Katherine Hogg

Oliver Holsgrove

Bella Holsgrove

Callum Semple

Teagan Imrie

Allana Selkirk

Isla Kerr

Haydn Palmer

Our S6 students alongside Mrs Redford also contributed by making and selling blue and yellow bracelets and they managed to raise an amazing £101. A special thanks goes to the below S6 students who contributed to this.

Andrea Suarez Carrio

Zornitca Yordanova
Isla Krol

Elyshia Pender

The whole school then participated in a dress down day and combining this along with the Bake Sale and the Bracelets we have raised a total of £953.70. Craig Biddick the Head teacher has agreed to round this up to £1000 and our donation will be going to the British Red Cross Ukraine Fund.

Wear a Hat Day

On Friday 25th March the school is participating in Wear a Hat Day to raise money for Brain Tumour UK research.  As you may be aware Ms Blake in our Social Subjects Department is currently receiving treatment for a brain tumour and the school wanted to give the staff and pupils the chance to show their support.

Any type of hat is suitable, the crazier the better, home made is even better to be sustainable.  It should be noted that donations to the charity are voluntary, there is no cost to participate and wear a hat.  However, if you do wish to make a donation a collection will take place during registration.

There will be House Points on offer for the best hats.  There will be 3 categories; S1-3, S4-6, and a staff category.  All participants will earn 20 House Points on the day.
