This week, six of our S3 Design and Technology students spent five days as apprentice stonemasons. They have been learning how to repair and rebuild a stone wall at St Mungo’s Church using lime mortar and traditional building skills. This is part of a number of activities that we have organised with the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration Project. Another group will continue with the work next week. Check out their work next time you are passing St Mungo’s.
Penicuik High School adopts a research-informed approach to raising attainment. The Big 5 is our approach to embedding the 5 key formative assessment strategies described by eminent educationalist, Professor Dylan William in his 2018 publication, Embedded formative Assessment

Pupils aged between 16 and 21 and already have an active NEC or Young Scot NEC issued prior to applications opening on 10 January 2022, can download free bus travel onto their existing card using the Transport Scot Pass Collect app. This app will allow them to add Free Bus Travel to their Young Scot National Entitlement Card yourself.

Congratulations to Aimee Aitken who has just returned from the European Taekwondo Do Championships in Poland where she gained a Gold and Silver award.
Daisy Wilkinson
Daisy has been selected to compete in the U15 year’s category of the European Youth Mountain Bike Championships in Capriosca, Switzerland in August. Daisy will take part in the Individual time trial, team relay and individual cross country and is looking to also qualify for the elimination race which depends on her time trial placing. Daisy’s UK team will also be riding to support a charity – Ride for Charlie.
This is Daisy’s first international event and we wish her well as she prepares for the competition.

Max has become a Scottish East District Champion in 200m backstroke (U14 boys) and Finlay Davies is Scottish East District Champion in 200m backstroke and 200m breaststroke (U16 Boys)
