We are delighted to announce that Penicuik High School has launched the SCQF Pupil Ambassadors programme this year. The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) helps young people as they move through school, college, university and the workplace, offering a variety of qualifications for lifelong learning.
The SCQF can:
– help your child understand the benefits of vocational qualifications;
– help your child plan their learning and be really useful at times of change, for example, when choosing subjects, moving from 3rd to 4th year at secondary school, or from school to college
– help employers understand the different types of qualifications your child may have achieved and which they will use on CVs and job applications;
– help universities or colleges identify the level your child has studied at in a particular subject, and make it easier to transfer SCQF credits between different learning programmes; and
– recognise other learning programmes that may contribute to your child’s personal development and goals for the future.
Our new Pupil Ambassadors for the SCQF already take part in a wide range of additional courses and qualifications offered within the school. They will be vital to promoting awareness of these additional courses and pathways to their peers, parents/carers and the wider school community. So far, our ambassadors have taken part in the ambassador training programme and are working towards creating a promotional video which will be shared on the school website in the near future. We have a fantastic team who are excited to help lead change in Penicuik High School.
