Monday 15 May is International Day of Families so our RIGHT of the Week is Article 18: Both parents or legal guardians, have the responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child. The best interests of the child will be their main concern. Governments will do their best to ensure that both parents take shared responsibility where appropriate.
S3 MINING MUSEUM TRIP
All S3s involved in the Mining Museum Trip should go to their Period 1 class on Tuesday but leave at 9:15 to go straight to Miss Docherty & Mrs Forbes classrooms. The bus will leave at 9:30. The named pupils MUST return their permission slips and payment by the break time today – if anyone is unable to do this, please come to speak to me at breaktime.
ART IMMERSION DAYS
Art and Design Immersion Day will now take place for all pupils sitting N5 and Higher on Wednesday 24 May, 8.30-3.25. All welcome!

RSPCA YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER AWARDS
Do you love animals and wildlife? Do you like taking photos? If so, you could enter the RSPCA Young Photographer Competition. Competition has now just opened and closes on 18 August 2017 – it’s FREE for anyone aged 18 or under to enter…SO GET SNAPPING!!!

Photos will be judged by award-winning and professional wildlife photographers. Prizes include a UK weekend photography break with Natures Images Seal Spectacular, up to £800 worth of camera vouchers and a trophy. FINAL REMINDER – YOUNG AMBASSADOR APPLICATIONS
Would you like to be considered as a Young Ambassador for Sport in Penicuik HS? The role of a Young Ambassador involves increasing participation & promoting active and healthy lifestyles in school, in the primaries and in the local community. If you are interested, please speak to Lucy Horn or John Graham who will be able to give you more information. Applications are open to pupils who are currently in S2, starting S3 in June. Please collect an application form and return it to the PE department. Closing date for applications is Monday 22 May.
