The Modern Languages S1 course is based on ‘Studio One.’

Topics covered are:

• C’est perso  (describing yourself and others)
• Mon collège  (describing your school and your subjects, telling the time, food and drink)
• Mes passetemps  (saying what you like and don’t like doing in your free-time, including  sports)
• Ma zone  (being able to talk about where you live and what you can do there, directions)
• 3 … 2 … 1 … Partez !  (covering holidays, daily routines, future plans)

By the end of S1 students will have covered the present and future tenses.  Students will also have been introduced to the culture of the French speaking world. A large proportion of homework will be done online.

Homework / study support is available.  Students should discuss this with any member of the Modern Languages Team.  Teachers also support students through Edmodo.

Assessment is ongoing and based on student’s work in class and at home with formal end-of-unit assessments in the skills of reading, writing, talking and listening throughout the year.
