UKULELE GROUP

S2 MIDLOTHIAN SCHOOLS’ SPELLING BEE

Congratulations to our 4 x S2 pupils who competed against five other Midlothian schools to become the Midlothian Spellmasters 2018. Well done!

Well done to our S2 spelling team for winning the Midlothian Spell Masters Spelling Bee!!!!! First time our school has won in in the 15 year history of the competition…….

All students going out to college/volunteering, etc are reminded they should sign out at the office.  You must not sign out on anyone else’s behalf.  This also applies to signing in for study periods. Thank you.

SLEEP IN THE PARK – 8 DECEMBER

If there are any S5 pupils who are interested in participating in Sleep in the Park with Social Bite, please see Miss Graham for information and a permission slip.  The event aims to raise money and awareness for homelessness in Scotland, and involves sleeping outside in Princes Street Gardens.  You must be aged 16 or over by 1 December to take part.

PUSHKIN PRIZE FOR CREATIVE WRITING

S1 and S2 – The next meeting for the Pushkin Prize writing competition will take place on Wednesday 5 December in room 45 at 1.10pm. Please bring your final piece of writing with you. We will be filling in entry forms on this day.

CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL

Once again we are collecting items for our Christmas Hamper Collection.  There are boxes in registration classes where items can be placed.  Please bring in what you can.  Register teachers have a list of suggested items if you are not sure what to bring.  Items should be in school by Monday 3 December.  Please help us help our local community this Christmas.

COLLEGE COURSES

Are you thinking about leaving school at Christmas? If so it is important that you apply for a January start college course even if it is a back-up to your intended plan. The applications have now opened for January start courses at Edinburgh College. To find out more look online, speak to Caroline Steele (Careers Adviser), or your guidance teacher, as soon as possible.
