MALAWI PARTNERSHIP CELEBRATION DAY

On Friday 12 October we have a dress down day for our Malawi Partnership Celebration event.  We want to try out a ‘Pay It Forward,’ approach where all students should bring in a minimum donation of £1 to dress down, but if you would like to contribute more than this to support our partnership with Namadzi it would be much appreciated.  We are currently raising money which will allow staff and students from Namadzi to visit Penicuik next June, and also to help fund solar power for Namadzi as they often have no electricity.  There will also be a bake sale as part of a celebration in the assembly hall at breaktime where a musician from Malawi will provide live music.

REMINDER – LIBRARIES WEEK

Libraries Week takes place between 8–13 October to celebrate the nation’s much-loved libraries.
This year, with a focus on wellbeing, libraries across the country will showcase how they bring communities together, combat loneliness, provide a space for reading and creativity and support people with their mental health.  It’s not just public libraries – libraries of all kinds in schools, workplaces and universities have amazing services that improve our wellbeing.

To do our bit in PHS we have a display of leaflets which highlight the paths to help for a variety of things that can effect wellbeing such as Anger, Depression, Self Harm, Bereavement etc.  In addition we also have information on “Healthy Reading Midlothian” which is a free and confidential service that provides people who are affected by mild to moderate mental health problems and their carers to access effective resources such as books, booklets, DVD’s.

Pupils and staff are welcome to pop along and have a look!
