YEAR OF KINDNESS

Sleep is incredibly important for healthy bodies and mind. Try to take a note of how much sleep you get each night this week. Think about small changes you may make to improve the amount of sleep you get.

DYSLEXIA AWARENESS WEEK 6-11 NOVEMBER

You will notice that staff are wearing blue ribbons this week to raise awareness of Dyslexia and to show support to our pupils who have dyslexia.  I have blue ribbons  to give to pupils. All you need to do is find the name of a famous person – living or dead – who has dyslexia then tell me their name.  I will be around my office at break and lunchtimes this week.

S2 CLUB 55

S2 Club 55 will not take place on Monday and Tuesday this week, due to the number of pupils out of school on the trip to Surgeons’ Hall.  Club 55 will begin again on Thursday.

ART STUDY SESSIONS FOR S4/S5

Mrs McLennan and Miss Keir will be holding a study session for all S4 and S5 pupils in preparation for the Art prelim. Any Art pupils who would like to come along on Tuesday 7 and/or Wednesday 8 November are welcome to join us.

S1/S2 PUSHKIN PRIZE FOR CREATIVE WRITING

Next meeting is on Wednesday November 8 at 1.15pm in room 45.  Please bring your next piece of writing with you.

KRAKOW TRIP JUNE 2018

The Krakow trip now has limited spaces for S3 pupils. Please collect a letter from Miss Docherty if you are interested. Any S4- S6 who have not already returned their form but want to come on the trip should speak to Miss Docherty by the end of today. Thank you.

HORRIBLE HISTORIES – Lunchtime Club

Any S1s/ S2s who have been or want to attend Horrible Histories lunchtime club should come to a short meeting at break time on Monday with Miss Docherty in room 25. Tuesday’s club will run as normal from 1pm in room 25.

BIG ART CLUB

Big Art Club will be starting again TODAY.  It will be held in Miss Keir’s room (57) in the art department each week from 15.25 to 16.25. We would like to invite back all of last years’ Big Art Club members and also encourage anyone else looking to join to come along. The club is open to any year group looking to create big art for around the school.

SILVER DUKE OF EDINBURGH

This is a reminder that all those who signed up should be attending the meetings on Thursday lunchtimes. This is part of your training and is therefore compulsory if you wish to achieve the award.  Also you need to be adding information/evidence to your eDofE account for your Silver and completing any missing info for your Bronze award.

FUNDRAISING GIG

There is going to be a fundraising gig on Thursday 16 November to raise money for Social Bite.  There will be a bake sale at the gig. Tickets are £5 and are available from Burnt Out Records members, the Charities Committee or from the Music Staff Base.  This will take place in the Hub, doors open at 7.00pm.  #10yearsofgigging

REMINDER – S3 BUSINESS LEARNERS

Now that the Micro-Tyco challenge is up and running you should be prepared to update your challenge diary and action plans at the start of next week in our Monday lesson and every Monday throughout the month of November.  If anyone experiences any problems or would like a bit of extra help to do this, please see Mr Connolly in room 32.
