Monday 15 May is International Day of Families so our RIGHT of the Week is Article 18: Both parents or legal guardians, have the responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child. The best interests of the child will be their main concern. Governments will do their best to ensure that both parents take shared responsibility where appropriate.

S3 pupils are reminded that permission forms and money for the Mining Museum trip must be returned to the office by TOMORROW. If you don’t have a letter please speak to Miss Docherty by the end of the day.  Thanks.

ART IMMERSION DAYS

Art and Design Immersion Day will now take place for all pupils sitting N5 and Higher on Wednesday 24 May, 8.30-3.25.  All welcome!

RSPCA YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER AWARDS

Do you love animals and wildlife? Do you like taking photos?  If so, you could enter the RSPCA Young Photographer Competition.  Competition has now just opened and closes on 18 August 2017 – it’s FREE for anyone aged 18 or under to enter…SO GET SNAPPING!!!

The categories are Under 12’s, 12-15 years, 16-18 years, Portfolio, plus a new Mobile Phone category!  To find out more and enter, their website is:-www.rspca.org.uk/ypaschools

Photos will be judged by award-winning and professional wildlife photographers. Prizes include a UK weekend photography break with Natures Images Seal Spectacular, up to £800 worth of camera vouchers and a trophy.  Also, all finalists are invited to the awards ceremony held in December 2017 at the Tower of London.  Best of luck!

S2 GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP DAY TUESDAY 16 MAY PERIODS 1-4

Pupils should go to the following places period 1 TODAY for the Global Citizenship Day.

2L3 check the list on the Geography noticeboard to see where you should go.

You should wear your own clothes, but they need to be suitable for being outside/potentially getting wet. Any questions speak to Mr Archibald.

S1-S3 ATHLETICS FINALS

Our Athletics finals take place period 5 and 6 on Thursday 18 May.  A list of pupils who have qualified for each event is now up in PE.  Please check carefully to see what events you have qualified for.  Pupils who are involved should arrive in PE at 1.20pm this Thursday with PE kit and water!

YOUNG AMBASSADOR APPLICATIONS

Would you like to be considered as a Young Ambassador for Sport in Penicuik HS?  The role of a Young Ambassador involves increasing participation & promoting active and healthy lifestyles in school, in the primaries and in the local community.  If you are interested, please speak to Lucy Horn or John Graham who will be able to give you more information.  Applications are open to pupils who are currently in S2, starting S3 in June.  Please collect an application form and return it to the PE department.  Closing date for applications is Monday 22 May.
